Oh my. After a wonderful weekend just hanging out and spending some time at the Smithsonian Museums down town (pictures and post coming) our Monday just…..well….sucked.
It started this morning with me waking up with a cold – 29 weeks pregnant and a cold. Yuck. A cold is miserable, but a pregnant cold is even worse. I went to work and things were just going along as a normal Monday until around 3PM when I got a call from Mini Me’s daycare. She was sick. She just puked on the floor of her classroom and we needed to pick her up. Superman rushed to get there and I rushed home because I knew I wouldn’t be able to concentrate with a pukey kid at home.
We arrived at our house at the same time and walked into our living room to find that the dog had gotten into the diaper bag and eaten a chap-stick and small tube of desitin WHICH SHE PROCEEDED TO PUKE UP ALL OVER THE LIVING ROOM. It was that moment where you were just too afraid to ask what next out of fear for what the answer might be.
So let us recap, sick mommy, pukey kid and now pukey dog. Superman set up Mini Me in the basement with some TV shows to keep her occupied and called the vet. He needed to bring her in right away. Who knew that diaper cream was so dangerous for dogs? Well, it is. It is 40% iron and can cause all kinds of problems. Luckily it was a small travel tube that was half used and it looked like she got most of it up all over the floor (yea, real lucky). So, we have to keep an eye on her and take her back for more bloodwork in a couple of days. She seems to be okay so far, but for all you parents who happen to be dog owners look out for diaper cream! It can at its worst cause kidney failure in your puppy!
So, in the end, I think we will laugh about this day in a few weeks but for now I’ll just call it one of those days…..
