She’s here! Harper Juliet was welcomed with love on January 27th, 2011 at 8:03AM. She weighed in at 7 lbs 9 oz and was 19 3/4 inches.
I can’t begin to describe what the past 12 days have been like. Mini Me is the best big sister ever. Like beyond a dream of anything we could have asked for. Our hearts are just so full of love and joy (tinged with a lot of exhaustion). I want to post more about this time do I don’t forget anything, but sleepy newborns take up more time than you can imagine. So, if some of my thoughts seem random and disjointed, please forgive. I just want to capture them.
I was scheduled for a repeat c-section on the 27th. Of course a snow storm decided to descend upon us the night before. We decided to stay in a hotel close to the hospital to be on the safe side – here is what it looked like getting Mini Me to my friend’s house and to the hotel. It was a 3 hour journey, but we got there!
We arrived at the hospital and everything went smoothly. I was very nervous for the surgery and the spinal, but the staff was wonderful and Superman was a rock as always. Here is our first family picture with Harper (sans Mini Me of course). Kind of weird to think that beyond that little curtain my guts were all hanging out! (gotta keep it real!)
That afternoon Mini Me came to meet her new baby sister. It was a magical moment I will never forget. I think this image my Dad took speaks volumes. As a friend said, “I can’t tell from the pictures who is happier, you or Rowan”.
